Biography
Dr Mohanakrishnan Logan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Biotechnology from the National University of Ireland Galway. His research focuses on anaerobic digestion, wastewater treatment, biohydrogen and biomethane production, and the recovery of energy and valuable resources from organic wastes and wastewater. He also works on volatile fatty acid production, bioremediation, and engineered biochar-based materials for environmental remediation. His projects span sustainable sanitation, circular bioeconomy approaches, and the development of biological processes for waste valorisation. His international experience includes research in Ireland, Thailand and Sweden, and his academic activities include supervision and collaboration with international partners. His work on wastewater treatment, resource recovery and environmental biotechnology is relevant to strengthening Australia–India cooperation in sustainable water and waste management.
